Visual Stress

Visual Stress is a processing condition where visual signals are not processed by the brain as they should be. This can make it difficult for the brain to interpret certain types of visual information, such as bright fluorescent lighting, patterns, or movement.

For some people, this can lead to symptoms including headaches, eye strain, light sensitivity, and dizziness. Words may also appear to jump, move, or become difficult to focus on when reading. Many people with visual stress find that reading black writing on a white background can be particularly uncomfortable or challenging.

There is a strong correlation between visual stress and learning difficulties such as dyslexia, ADHD, and autism. Coloured lenses may help reduce these symptoms by filtering out the wavelengths of light that cause visual discomfort.

If you or someone you know experiences these difficulties, give us a call on 06 867 5465 to discuss whether coloured lenses could help.
